Mid-Level Aquatic Biologist/Taxonomist (3-5 years)

We are currently seeking a full-time Mid-level Aquatic Biologist/Taxonomist with a Bachelor’s (minimum) or Master’s degree in applied sciences such as entomology, ecology, biology, environmental science, or natural resource management.  The successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years related work experience and laboratory capabilities in benthic macroinvertebrate taxonomy (freshwater and/or marine). Preference will be given to applicants with at least 2 years of applied genus-level benthic macroinvertebrate identification. Society of Freshwater Science (SFS) Taxonomic Certification(s) a plus. The ideal candidate will also have fieldwork experience and working knowledge of rapid bioassessment protocols, aquatic habitat, aquatic entomology, fisheries, database management/statistics, and state and federal regulations related to water quality. Position requires fieldwork in all weather conditions, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a high level of teamwork in a fast-paced and fun work environment. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. in Environmental Science or related field, with pertinent course work in applied sciences such as entomology, ecology, biology, environmental science, or natural resource management.  M.S. a plus.
  • 3 to 5 years related work experience and laboratory capabilities in benthic macroinvertebrate taxonomy (freshwater and/or marine).
  • At least 2 years of applied genus-level benthic macroinvertebrate identification. Society of Freshwater Science (SFS) Taxonomic Certification(s) a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
