Environmental Scientist – Seasonal/Temporary Position

We are currently accepting applications for a motivated seasonal/temporary environmental scientist on a flexible basis for 2-3 days a week on average, with potential for up to 40 hours depending on candidate availability and company workload. The position will begin in August 2026 and extend through November 2026 (depending on availability). This position will primarily support water quality and aquatic resources projects and may be eligible for extension.

The ideal candidate would have an interest and experience in aquatic invertebrate taxonomy and ecology. Candidates should have or be working towards a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences such as aquatic resources, ecology, environmental science, or natural resource management. Experience or course work with aquatic ecology, wetland delineation, plant identification, soil science, wildlife, or GIS a plus. Candidates should also have excellent written and oral communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. Position will require a self-starter, with good organization skills who is willing to work outdoors in all conditions and spend time in a laboratory setting. Tasks will vary depending on current projects, but will most likely include assisting with:

  • Lab processing of aquatic macroinvertebrates;
  • Field work related to biological monitoring, water quality sampling, wetland delineations, and forest assessments;
  • GPS field survey;
  • Data entry and assisting with report writing; and
  • Some administrative and clerical duties.

This opportunity is ideal for early career candidates or students seeking professional experience. Work is primarily in-person, and candidates must live locally.
